We are partnering with a global technology powerhouse to find an Application Support Engineer for their core automation and platform services team.
This role acts as the technical engine room for complex client issues. You will be picking up escalations, diving deep into application logs, and utilising your coding and database knowledge to solve intricate software problems before they require core development intervention.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking ownership of and resolving challenging technical issues related to the full web application stack, automation workflows, and platform integrations.
- Reading, debugging, and troubleshooting Object-Oriented code (Java) and utilising scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Shell) to analyse logs and identify root causes.
- Troubleshooting complex interactions between enterprise software and relational databases (MySQL, Oracle).
- Administering and resolving platform-related issues within Linux/Unix and Microsoft Server environments.
- Providing exceptional, professional communication to enterprise clients while preparing detailed technical escalations for Senior Engineering and Development teams when required.
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Demonstrated commercial experience in an Application Support, Technical Support, or similar customer-facing role, ideally within SaaS, MarTech, or large-scale enterprise software environments.
- A strong ability to read, debug, or troubleshoot Object-Oriented code (with a preference for Java).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Perl, Unix Shell) for troubleshooting and automation tasks.
- Solid hands-on experience querying relational databases (SQL) and navigating Linux/Unix or Windows Server environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a highly professional, customer-centric approach to technical issues.
Bonus points for (or a strong interest in learning):
- Direct experience with IT Operations Management (ITOM) tools, CMDB, or automated discovery products (e.g., ServiceNow).
- A foundational understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, firewalls, load balancers).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VMware) or network monitoring tools.
