What you can be doing
- Steer: Feature delivery whilst some re-architecture work can happen incrementally. The right candidate is someone who can improve the foundations while keeping the product moving forward
- Optimize: Take charge of the backend data normalization pipeline to handle fragmented data.
- Technical Ownership: Complete a handover of the AWS Lambda normalization layer, Core API, and React frontend from external teams.
- Partner: Partner directly with the founders to ideate and deliver the future technical roadmap.
- Feature Delivery: Ship the next iteration of customer-facing features on the React/CraftCMS frontend.
What you can bring to the role
- Strong API engineering skills (Node.js, Python, or Go) to manage the Core API.
- Proven experience with Serverless Architecture (AWS Lambda) for managing data ingestion layers.
- Experience with MongoDB for structuring complex, normalized data.
- Experience with frontend frameworks (React) and Headless CMS (CraftCMS).
- You love to leverage modern AI tooling (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for rapid, efficient execution.
Extra info
- Remuneration: $140,000 – $160,000 Base + Superannuation.
- Equity: Very generous ESOP in a well-backed pre-seed startup.
- Location: Melbourne, VIC (Hybrid: 3 days a week in-office to foster close collaboration).
