Job Description

We are partnering with a global technology powerhouse to find an Application Support Engineer to support their core infrastructure and automation services.

This role is the critical escalation point for complex technical issues, acting as the bridge between enterprise customers and the core engineering teams responsible for the platform’s backend services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Taking ownership of and resolving challenging technical issues related to the full web application stack.
  • Debugging Object-Oriented code (Java) and using scripting languages (Python, Shell) to analyse and solve problems.
  • Troubleshooting complex interactions between relational databases (MySQL, Oracle) and enterprise software.
  • Administering and resolving issues within Linux/Unix and Microsoft Server environments.
  • Collaborating with Development and Operations teams to manage escalations and deliver robust solutions.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Proven commercial experience in a customer-facing technical support capacity, focused on enterprise-level software.
  • A strong ability to write or debug Object-Oriented code, with a strong preference for Java.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Perl, Unix Shell).
  • Solid hands-on experience with relational databases and system administration of Linux/Unix or Windows Server.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with clear, professional communication.

Bonus points for (or a strong interest in learning):

  • Direct experience with ServiceNow ITOM / ITAM products (e.g., CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping).
  • A firm grasp of networking concepts like TCP/IP, HTTP, and the roles of firewalls and load balancers.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, VMware) and configuration templates (ARM, CFT).
  • Knowledge of network monitoring (SNMP, MIBs/OIDs) and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, Traceroute).
